Hurray for Friday the Thirteenth. Got in a discussion about Harry Potter with my mom. I think I am going to go buy those “what will happen” books mostly because in a week, they will vanish and I will lose their collectablility. I’m probably not going to read them until after I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. One of these days, I will buy them all for myself, probably when dear book 7 is in paperback because really, a collection of hard covers would make me happy, but I’ll buy those when I am rich, have no children and nothing else to do with my money. By then maybe I will have enough shelves.
I have decorated many boxes. I only have a few more to do but my fingers are now very sticky and that makes me all depressed. But I have many collaged boxes and I am happy. No more waffle obsessions for me!
I have reached a state of coherency and I am now able to talk about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
For those of you who don’t know, OotP is my least favorite book in the series. I have no idea why really, though I think it mostly has to do with I was going through a difficult time when it came out and Harry’s angst was much more pathetic than mine and people (characters) cared more about his angst then they did mine. It also just… never really spoke to me at all. The only parts I can remember with clarity are the parts where they are not at Hogwarts or Ron is being either hurt or humiliated… and occasionally scenes where Malfoy shows up. Umbridge scared me more than the Dark Lord ever has. I think it was because she is insane. I always think it’s a bad sign when a temporary character (All the DADA teachers are temps, minus Remus and Snape) scares the readers more than “the most feared dark wizard of our time”. It just… the book felted forced or something. The movie did an exceptional job. I actually enjoyed it for many reasons. They made the book likable for me! They made Harry likable, rather than some emo kid that you don’t give a flying fuck about while his hand is being mutilated by Umbridge. The special effects were spectacular. I only have one loud and vocal complaint about the movie and those of you die hard nut job fans probably know exactly what I am talking about. My only other complaint is their treatment of Cho, making her into someone… dare I say likeable. I mean I might not like the character but… in the fifth book she is worse than Harry (for good reason) and cries and uses poor little Harry.
Time to break out the Harry Potter Icon…
You knew this was coming
