According to Dusty, Doppelganger has decided to wear ironic t-shirts. This pretty much made my DAY.

After our quiz in Stats, Dusty got out and saw Doppelganger leave his class. Apparently his shirt had a gigantic shield on the back of it. I think he is doing it intentionally at this point. Which would be hilariously awesome.

So I came home and watched BLOOD: the last vampire. Which is a movie. Not an anime. At least this time. A live action one. I kind of liked it, even if the blood was purpleish and the whole thing was… very what gravity? Gravity is for wusses and things but I liked it. I liked the head chick demons various wardrobes and the femslash in that movie practically wrote itself. Deep intimate connections between girls that involve intense stares and blood letting. Yeah it was a tiny bit gay.

I did not, however, like the ending. Because it sucked. A lot. Not the final epic fight part, but the part after that, mostly because it was very “what the hell is going on here”.

Oh Fridays.

Watched the Maiden Heist with Dad today. It was alright but yesterday’s con movie was better. It was about art thieves though, but not like real ones. This was the story of a group of security guards at an art museum that find out that their favorite pieces are going to be moved to like Denmark or something and they decided to make fakes and steal the originals forever.

I am not all that excited about this semester. Even for all the fact that I am graduating in less than four months. But there is pretty much homework, tests and group meetings. And the group meetings are making me so tired. You have no idea. Just thinking about the group meetings makes my eyes twitch and my fingers curl in on themselves.

I made it to 10000 words. Those last 100 are pretty crappy and are mostly me going “oh lord so close just… aghereasedre” kind of things but hey 10000 words!

I am watching Criminal Minds. Again. I missed this show, even though I am not super into it (like oh say, those other shows where I watched them online). It’s good and interesting and creative. However I am not sure how realistic it is.

I am tired thinking about groups already... But I have to go to bed and then pretend to be happy about school tomorrow…

I beat a game today.

Admittedly, it was a game that is supposed to be beaten in a relatively short amount of time as it is a search and find game but still, I beat it. I liked it too, even if the voice acting was pretty awful. But it was very pretty to look at. And most of the things that were hidden all over the place were actually reasonably hidden. Like it made sense for them to be there are opposed to Mystery Case Files where you kind of go WTF Why is that there?

I spent a lot of today catching up on things. And trying not to whimper because my shoulder aches. I finally realized that it was most likely caused by my fall yesterday. It hurts though and has made me kind of sad. My wrist also hurts but I am not sure how much of that is aggravated by me typing.

Also, movies that I like are now getting this treatment:

The Brothers Bloom (2009) || Starring: Mark Ruffalo, Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz || Directed by: Rian Johnson

One of the better con movies I have seen in a long time, with a bittersweet ending and a fantastic soundtrack.

|| Stephen and Bloom are brothers, who have been conning people since their childhood, with Stephen concocting elaborate stories for them to play out that play on people perfectly, controlling every aspect of the scenario from start to finish. He casts Bloom as the tragic antihero in his cons, until there is one con too many, and Bloom quits, to live on a tiny island in Montenegro.

Stephen finds him, with the help of the quiet Japanese “fifth Beatle” of the group, Bang Bang. They draw him into one final con. The target: filthy rich heiress and recluse Penelope Stamp who hardly ever leaves her home or talks to people and spends her life collecting hobbies. She can skateboard, juggle chainsaws, and make pinhole cameras out of watermelons. And as the con plays out, the brothers realize that she is far more unpredictable than any mark they have ever played. ||

The casting in this movie was awesome. Rinko Kikuchi does a fantastic job as the essentially mute throughout the story Bang Bang, making her a felt presence throughout the film, and a likeable character. Mark Ruffalo plays the master conman to perfection, with the right amount of charm, wit and intelligence, as well as the unassuming air that allows you to be constantly surprised by how well he planned the entire con. Adrien Brody is wonderful as Bloom, sympathetic and still a conman. The two actors together have a great rapport, picking on each other and playing off each other as conmen, partners and brothers. One moment that sticks out the most in my mind that I think exemplifies is a scene where Bloom is confronted by their old Mentor, who (by implication) sexually abused Bloom as a child. Brody acts the scene with the right amount of tension and wide eyed fear to convey the implication without stating it. And Ruffalo comes to the rescue as the big brother, attacking the man relentlessly and without any hesitation. And Rachel Weisz! She played the eccentric heiress with such strange quirks perfectly. She learned how to do card tricks and how to skateboard and played the social awkwardness perfectly, and the progression of the character throughout the story felt natural.

Finally, the con. Now, my favorite thing about con movies, apart from the strange cast that ultimately gathers to pull off the perfect con, is the con itself. This movie has many cons throughout it, starting with the first con done by the brothers as children. But the con of this movie was one where you weren’t sure if you were being conned at all the entire time. How much exactly did the brothers plan? How much did they count on happening? What was reaction and how much was deliberate action? The con was so complex and so wonderfully done that it worked out to perfection.

A fantastic con movie, start to bittersweet finish.

Happy Birthday Adam Lambert!

Dusty mentioned it. It’s in my brain until I DIE or find something to overwrite that data.

So today (in my actual classes) was pretty dull. We went over the homework in controls, and then I worked on the outline some more in stats. In dynamics I worked on the outline (mostly finished the basics of it too I think) and started trying to brainstorm how I wanted to do the chapters and things. Overall, class wise, very dull.

Non class wise? Not so much. I show up to stats, ready to comfort and hug the living hell out of Dusty and she says something along the lines of “so I thought today was going to be a total fail and then guess who I saw?” Yep DOPPLEGANGER! Apparently Doppleganger is in the classroom across the hall from during stats. This pretty much made my week (and after my epic win of 5000 words on Tuesday, pretty damn impressive). I caught a glimpse of him when we left and it made me joyously happy. Looks like someone is in the running once again for Epic Thing of the Year.

I also managed to buy pretty much my body weight in snack food. Yay for getting ready for the superbowl. I also got complimented for my hair to quote: “I walked past you earlier and I had to do a double check because your hair is simply the most gorgeous color I have ever seen”. Yeah feel pretty special. I also got told not to let the boys shove me out of engineering by a nice man in the parking lot of McDonalds. Then I came home, and Lindsay and I went on an epic quest to Petco, Petsmart and Best Buy. I now have Movie 4 and Mystery Case Files. I am pretty stoked.

I also went and played with Dusty today. We ate with her dad while we watched The Bourne Identity, which is still epic and awesome. We then dropped something off with her mother and then went to Target to buy her makeup. And then we went to village inn and had some of that awesome pie stuff. Srsly delish. During this whole thing we talked about the downfallrpg and decided that we should rewrite it. It’s going to be pretty epic

I also told her about my conversation with Fernando about the presence of robot dragons that transform in my potentially really really long fanfiction. I say that I feel like I should work it in as some sort of homage, maybe in a dream or something. She replies with “work it in after the mansex and then give it to him and be like ‘hey, you wanted transforming robot dragons’.” I am half tempted to do so, but maybe not give it to him, as I still want him to be you know… alive and undamaged.

Only downer part of my night was being taken out by Holly. Luckily I didn’t resprain my ankle. I just bruised my entire left side. And luckily she went “OH FOOD ON THE FLOOR” and not “OH NYSSA ON THE FLOOR”.

So… today was pretty much me doing nothing!

I mean I could have done so much but I tidied my room (aka looked for my shirt and failed to do so). I also found many books, that I then scattered all over the place. My floor is also covered in yesterdays shopping experience, and random bits of fluff… I am not sure what I am supposed to be doing in there but so long as my mother ignores it today, I am going to declare it a victory.

Watched Knowing. Kinda had some predictive plot points, but other things weren’t, for example, the ENDING of all things. But the previews gave away the plane crash, which I think would have been way more awesome if I didn’t know it was coming. But I liked it, and Dad and I talked about Sci Fi books afterward, including one by… someone about the Moon suddenly lighting up at night, and a scientist realizing this meant that the sun had flared or something and they had until morning to live.

Mother and I also watched 2x03 of Merlin. I tried to convince her to watch more, but helpful father made that impossible by sleeping through half of it (even though he hasn’t even seen 1x08). I will just have to drag mother through more and more of Merlin as the weeks go by.

The only thing I did today was watch Jane Austin’s Persuasion, which was just as sad as I remember it being, but maybe even sadder.

The story was told better than the last time I watched this though, as it is told from the end of the story, without the boring part at the beginning with the love story and the not being allowed to marry. They skip right to the end where the heroine is pining pathetically and so is the hero, though he is wearing a dashing uniform (yum… goddamn it Bradley, get in a Victorian era movie already).

But the best part was seeing Anthony Head as King Uther with Daughters instead of a son. Which means that Arthur is the heroine… LOL at that mental image. But it was very strange as my brain was trying to figure out if I wanted him to be Giles undercover training a slayer or if wanted him to be Uther and then, THEN, my brain decided this would make an awesome fic. I think someone needs to do it with Merlin and Arthur.

The other funny part was the bandit sociopath manipulator guy from 2x11 The Witch’s Quickening was in it, as a crippled (limping) officer, and he was nice and awesome and it was kind of like SEE MEANT TO BE AN EPIC AU!

Anyway, two more days…

I just watched one of the best movies I have ever seen. So much so, that I feel the need to review it, or discuss it at length and talk about how much of a fantastically awesome movie it was. I need it. So I can be depressed and watch it over and over until the disk breaks.

Moon (2009) || Starring : Sam Rockwell || Directed by : Duncan Jones

||Sam Bell works, alone, on the far side of the moon, harvesting the energy that powers 70% of the world. And all he wants to do is go home. He cannot communicate in real time with Earth, and only has a robot, GERTY, for company. Nearing the end of his three years of solitude, he starts to hallucinate.

Sam gets into an accident caused by one of these hallucinations, and when he awakes, he learns that he is not alone. ||

Moon manages to do everything right. They created a set that made the viewer feel just as trapped and alone as Sam. They created a beautiful soundtrack that lulls you into the movie, never distracting from the plot, but never unfelt throughout the story. And Sam Rockwell is simply phenomenal. I am not one to preach about who should earn awards, but he did such an amazing job, especially during scenes that I cannot divulge due to spoilers. He played the character so well, and so perfectly. You felt for Sam, and you were concerned about him throughout the length of the story.

The film did a masterful job of setting up it’s little moon world as well. There is one actor in this movie practically, and he performs exceedingly well, and by doing so, it creates a feeling of solitude that I haven’t felt before in movies of a similar theme (I’m looking at you Solaris). The details that are put into the set are amazing, with dirt on the floor, smiley faces on the shower counting down Sam’s last three weeks on the moon base, and the white, but not sterile, rooms. The director also did a magnificent job with GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacey), just creepy enough to be scary, but comforting enough where the viewer starts to rely on it as a crutch, even if it harkens back to HAL of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The lunar landscape was so grey and the soundtrack for those scenes flowed beautifully.

To make it even more awesome, the director actually thought about his mini universe. He presented this movie to NASA, and how many movies that are SciFI do that? When asked why the base is on the far side of the Moon harvesting He3, versus the Earth-side of the moon which is more abundant in He3, he had an instant answer, stating that they didn’t want to interfere with the wildlife. When asked about the lunar base itself, it’s bunker like design and sturdy look, he replied that he thought it made more sense that the astronauts would build the base out of the lunar surface, rather than bring a whole space station from earth. Another viewer at the same showing was currently working on something similar, concrete that could only be made from lunar dust.

Overall, it was simply one of the better movies I have seen in a long time that did not get a lot of press, did not get a lot of guts and glory and flashy TV ads. It was simply amazing, and is in my top 20 movies for sure, whenever I get around to that list. I mean, I may even need a userpic for this movie.

The Treadmill (now with a title) is kinda big.

LOST! Season finale and only one more to go! I hate this about Lost. I’m totally content to not watch all of it in one sitting, and I don’t even care about it at all, and then, THEN, I watch one episode and I end up watching as many as possible and whining when I run out of episodes. So, the finale managed to be just as totally wack as all the other finale’s. Which was like… expected but I am kind of going ‘JACOB!’ and ‘WTF?’ and… well pretty much just that. I like the actor who played Jacob though. He plays a very good… Jacob. And Lucifer in Supernatural.

I also watched Fanboys tonight. I liked it. It may not be in my top 100 movies ever (and HEY isn’t that an idea… can I even name that many? And if I did, could I list them in order. Sounds like a fun project) but it was adorable. And I had an uncomfortable moment where I found Jay of Jay and Silent Bob attractive. I think it’s the short hair. Bradley James has infected me to the point where short blond hair = happy Nyssa. Bad bad bad. Lol

So, I am sort of thinking of things to do to keep me on LJ more this year, since I failed so hardcore last year. At least in terms of my journal as I was on LJ every single day the entire time, I promise you. We’ll have to see, I have ideas. There are things like the 1000 Rules For My Unborn Son thing that I love, and I am wondering if I can do something similar… or something to do daily or… I don’t know. Thinking of maybe starting a fanon journal for writings and things. Stryation is the title name now, but I am debating if I want to comm. it or if I want to make it a journal… Tough choices.

I think watching Big Bang Theory in my pajama’s until the treadmill arrives is how breaks should be spent. I like Big Bang Theory, but at the same time, it’s kind of… reflective I guess, and it makes me a tiny bit defensive, because as an engineering major, I think I am fairly competent at human interactions. I am not on their level, but still, I haven’t met anyone THAT socially awkward. It kind of makes me grit my teeth sometimes.

Mom does not like the size of the treadmill, which I must confess is kind of HUGE, but hey, it’s pretty neat. I played with it today and realized that my average pace is way faster than 1mph and so I kept stumbling when just walking on it. It will take some fiddling to try to figure out what paces I like. So far it looks like it will be used though, which will make my mother happy.

Watched Assassination of a High School President. Was not blown away. Kind of depressed by that.

So I just finished (500)Days of Summer, which was very very good. It was the perfect romantic movie, lacked the cliché happy ending and was just fantastic. The music was great and I love the actor who plays the ‘hero’, even if he was pathetically pathetic in love. And it was sweet and you felt so bad for him. Looking back over the length of the movie, there was so much there that could be looked over again and again. It was really touching and very sweet.

I played Assassin’s Creed II today instead of prototype. I think it might have been for the best, though Ezio and I are arguing about nothing and so now I am not playing anything. I have also found Camelotsolstice, and that cannot be a good thing. We’ll see if I can hold back until after the GRE’s before totally going off the deep end. Probably not. Also, apparently, we are getting a treadmill like tomorrow. Which is exciting… that I forgot about. So… might start running.

So, in the replaying of Assassin's Creed II, it seems my OCD has gotten worse, I picked fights with guards who were in the possession of SWORDS whist Ezio only had fists in order to get treasure chests and codex pages when I would just have to play for like an hour and gain access to a sword, or my hidden blades, or anything other than fists, which make fights last SO much longer. But no, I got almost all the treasure chests and codex pages in the two districts I have access too... and all the secret symbols. Because my OCD? Pretty f'ing upsetting.

Other than that, I have not done much today. I read one of my shiny new manga (a sure sign that I just.... am not that into it anymore as I find it hard to sit down and read one manga, from a series I LOVE). But it made me happy. I think I may have to start selling my manga though, if I really have outgrown them, or whatever. We will see. It's a bit sad but I am kind of afraid I am keeping them even for sentimental reasons instead of my actually just liking some of them. So guess I am going to be rereading a lot of series over the next week and a half. Though I probably won't.

I watched Night at the Museum 2 today, while being totally cheesy, I totally loved it. I also think I am going to start a list of all the movies I watch this year, just because A) It will be interesting to look back on and B) because I think I watch A LOT of movies. Might do TV shows too, but I doubt it, as I don't really follow TV shows except for my favorites.

GOING SHOPPING WITH DUSTY TOMORROW! And talking to Leonardo Da Vinci. And maybe sorting some, because I still have like... 180 bookmarks to sort.

Did i just make my own work counter? you bet i did.
Scriptfrenzy has begun. This time i will try to stay on top of it like i did with nanowrimo this year, maybe even finishing early, which would be awesome. my screen play is called "Second Commander Quinlan Holden Altman versus Camulus, the God". In honor of it, i use my Camulus smirky OMG PETTYFER icon. Because he's pretty and Camulus wouln't settle for anyone less.
Today i... did nothing. No i went to class and did a little bit of materials but overall i was useless.
Other than that, i am ambiant gay or something. it's magnetic. I blame my peers in highschool fucking up my gaydar beyond repair. Because it is happening on it's own. I was looking up david hewlett's movies, go that one looks intersting, youtube it and get "David Hewlet's kiss scene in Century Hotel"... i blinked at it for a moment and then rea the summery and got "boy!kissing" and then kinda got a bit worried. Because this just happens to me. I read a book and a chractr turns out to be gay. I watch an episode, and it involves gay peopl. Whatever. I thought it was just a coincidence. Then i look up at the tv show that happened to be on the channel that i left on earlier. Cold Case. Gay teenage boys... Cue my eyes narrowing and a bit of math and i have decided that my fucked up Gaydar works backwards. I can't sense it, but ti gravitates around me. Malfuncitoning gaydars are not fun people.
I watched a bit of The Cube. I can see why it is cult classicy. And not to sound Bias but David Hewlett is a very good actor, even in strange cult Canadian movies. I think i need to find more SGA actor movies... **cackles**

I saw Watchmen today. HOLY GOD IT WAS AMAZING! like seriously i loved it to peices and now i need icons because DAMN that was amazing! Like above and beyond expectations amazing. I WAS VERY VERY IMPRESSED! I need the comic now. i Love Rorschach. He was the only character i liked seriously, even though he is the ultraconservative nutjob. But he was awesome.
Though ew sex scenes like seriously.
Uh I got my 314 exam today. I got a 63/67 on it. Considering the average was a 66 and the distribution was between a mid 30 and a mid 80, i don't feel that bad about that score. I took my music exam. I did awesome. I think.
Uh bought video games. Had to adventure but managed to get both Resident Evil 5 and Force Unleashed. Also managed to find Stargate Atlantis Season 2 Used.
I am so excited. RE5 is awesome, Force Unleashed is awesome and STARGATE!

I watched four movies today

Prince Caspian- again, this time with audio commentary. It was pretty funny actual. Linds and i mocked Caspian hair. and Faces. And things. All around it was good times. However, it triggered another movie.

The Jungle Book- I love this movie. The live action one. It's pretty, there are wolves running around and the soundtrack is amazing. Plus it is the Jungle Book! i kind of want to read the book...

Burn After Reading- not worth it. It was... not worth it at all. Did not deserve the acclaim it got. At all. It was terrible. And i understand that the actors must have been... trying to break out of their shells or something but it was terrible.

Eagle Eye- my paranoia has returned full force, and the woman was an idiot. i can't believe her. Ugh i am so mad.

So today i watched movies. No seriously, that is what i did. Should i have studied for my materials exam? Probably but whatever.
Watched Prince Caspian. Love the movie, especially the dynamic between King Peter the Magnificent and Prince Caspian the Slightly (coughreallycough) Dim. I had forgotten about the animal killing though. It was a bit traumatic. But i have learned many lessons. Plan goes wrong? improv= bad idea damnit.
Also watched Kill Bill vol 1. It's been a while and the parents/Linds haven't seen it so it was kind fun to know everything when they didn't. I also noticed alot more now that i know things (like the Bride's name and things)
Anyways, that is all i did. I am such a slacker. Hope it doesn't bite me in the ass come test day.

Watched three movies today.

The Mummy 3- Miss old Evy but as she is now a respected actress i understand. movie was pretty cool though. Wish it was a bit more... sensical? Don't really know. Miss old Evy.

Wanted- Loved! Very diff from comic book but omg do not care! Loved! it was very good and pretty to look at. Also liked it and did not find it groteque. Feel slightly lied too.

Death Race- Mindless violence for the win, which ironically was the whole point of the movie.

Have spent a very very uncomfortable evening with peers. Have decided to avoid peers in large groups for a prolonged period of time. As it leads to me being stomped on, picked on, yelled at and berated into silence. Those who think this is a good idea? Yay, am glad we all agree that toxic people are... well think Toxic People describes it well enough.
got invited on facebook to go party like a rockstar. At least they think we are rockstars. Because, you know, all 4 of us can't meet up unless there is a facebook invite and you invite people within 24 hours. Yes... because that is how rockstars party. Please, if we were that cool, there would have been more than three people accepting the invite.
Class? Boring. but whatever. Have homework, will do, psht. Mad and angry and upset and kinda just want to yell at someone but have feeling that Sister will not like that. Dad gone ultralighting.
Went to Borders, bought Snakehead! and many other books! Am excited to read many many books! need to do things about that. Craving manga, but huge amounts coming out next week so withholding.

Have you noticed there were no "I's" in this whole entry. Way of distancing self from feelings of worthlessness and attempting to forget that friends enjoy treating people like self like SHIT. Am considering starting f-locking and grouping said Fs...

I had to pry myself away from WEWY today in order to go be social.
Windu had a birthday party. Yes, Windu is a dog. poor thing was confined to a small pillow. But i think he had a good time. I am unsure. There was good food and good company. Chatted about Video games and other such things with the boys. But i had a good time. Have added Force unleashed to my wish list but it is so far down the list it will probably be summer, which is okay as by then i shall have money and time. Maybe spring break at the earliest for fun games i can attach myself to.
During the party (which was interrupted by a call from Jason which made me pleased because i miss my crazy track runner) we watched Braveheart. Nothing, and i do mean nothing, is more annoying that having to stop a movie to argue/look up historical facts. Multitask people! Multitask. So Hunter and I mocked it and Jared called me gay. Was i hypersensitive and maybe he didn't say anything like that? Fuck no he practically spelled that out. Almost corrected him and said i was a misanthrope. Didn't and chose to simply remind myself that he isn't my best male buddy and thus, cannot call me that and have me laugh and joke. I reserve that for buddies of the engineering variety that are comfortable enough to make the joke and continue playing with me.
Anyways, i have a bunch of cupcakes now, because Dusty made them and they can't have them. So i have them and i have one last night in this house before i get shipped back to school. I really don't want to go back to school.
